self-help project guidance, all oriented to develop informed
individuals seeking school approval and compliance awareness.
Desk Audit Planning & Assistance
Between the time that you receive school approval to operate and the date of an announced site
visit, almost all schools are required to participate in a desk audit. The BPPE sends a package of
documents, including checklists, to each recently approved school, The school has 30 days to
complete all of the paperwork which includes writing some policy statements and lots of answers are
required. The enrollment agreement and the school's official catalog are studied and changes may
be required.

As with site visits, we recommend that you prepare for the desk audit as soon as your school begins
operations. The content required by the BPPE is the same for all schools, with allowances made for
certificate programs and the differences with degree programs.

As with a site visit, you can prepare for a desk audit ahead of time. In this way, you will have more
time to be prepared, more time to remedy errors that you find in your preparation process, more
time to assure that your key documents are in order, and in this way help to assure that your
normal operations will not be adversely interrupted or affected by the required desk audit. Please
contact us if you have questions or are seeking more information regarding this process and a
description of the assistance that we provide.
SEVP  I-17 Petition Assistance
We work with school owners to help them prepare for the proper filing of an I-17 Petition.

We have developed a  guidebook which explains the process and sets forth good practices in the
establishment of student files instructor files curricular materials and financial documents and other
key documents. The duties and responsibilities of a DSO, or designated school official are
addressed. Links are provided so that you may easily obtain the manuals that you will need.

In order to prepare for the required site visit, your school's DSO (s) will be required to take an
online training program, so a workbook sets forth information regarding how to sign up. The
documentation requirements are clearly explained for a variety of types of schools, both accredited
and non-accredited vocational schools, colleges, universities and language schools. Frequent
references are made to the Code of Federal Regulations so that as you proceed you may verify the
information set forth in the workbook. Please contact us for more information regarding the
advantages of a well-planned and researched approach to this type of project.
Compliance Audit Assistance
The current private postsecondary education code is written in such a way that temporary
approvals for schools have been eliminated. Qualified applicants are now issued an approval for
five years. However, while schools receive a full approval, the compliance and enforcement section
of the Bureau for private postsecondary will visit your school.

These site visits are performed in two stages. First, schools receive a request for information from
the BPPE, and schools have only 30 days to respond. After the document review, schools are
contacted by the BPPE in order to schedule a physical site visit to enable an audit of school
records and inspection of premises and things of this sort.

We recommend that you prepare for a compliance audit ahead of time. In this way, you will have
more time to be prepared, more time to remedy errors that are found in your preparation process,
more time to assure that your key documents are in order, and in this way help to assure that your
normal operations will not be adversely interrupted or affected by these required compliance audits.
Please contact us if you have questions or are seeking more information regarding this process
and a description of the assistance that we provide for a fixed fee.

VA Approvals
Applications for recognition of a school by the Veterans Administration will allow the school to be
paid by the VA if the veteran or eligible family member qualifies for enrollment at the vocational
school, college, or university. We provide assistance in creating the school application for approval
from the VA, including the Veterans Information Bulletin. Please call with questions.
