The Challenge

The Bay Area Youth EMT Program is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on increasing diversity in the first responder profession. To offer its EMT program legally in California, the organization needed BPPE approval.

Without this approval, the program could not move forward with training or pursue funding opportunities that support its mission. The leadership team needed support in preparing a complete application that met state requirements and reflected the structure of a community-focused training program.

The Solution

School Builder Plus worked with BAY EMT to prepare its BPPE application package and guide the organization through each step of the approval process. This approval allowed BAY EMT to operate its EMT program and continue building pathways into the first responder profession for local youth.

The Outcome

BPPE approval opened the door to long-term growth and impact. The program has been in operation for more than six years and has trained hundreds of disadvantaged students at no cost.

Its work has been featured in multiple publications, along with the 2025 documentary In the Red, which highlights the organization’s mentorship, training, and community-focused mission. BAY EMT continues to expand access to training through strong partnerships, community support, and its commitment to preparing the next generation of EMTs and firefighters.
