What Is a Secondary Agency Approval?
Not all California private postsecondary schools answer to the BPPE alone. Some programs are also regulated by a second state agency, such as the California Department of Public Health or the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology, depending on the type of training offered.
When your program requires secondary oversight, the BPPE will issue a Conditional Approval after reviewing your application. That conditional status does not convert to full BPPE approval until your secondary agency license is secured.
